Taking care of your motorcycle clothing pays off: it helps your gear stay comfortable, keeps protective features performing as intended, and extends its lifespan. Because REV’IT! garments are built from different constructions—textile, mesh, leather or mixed-material shells, sometimes paired with waterproof membranes such as GORE-TEX or Hydratex—care instructions aren’t one-size-fits-all. This guide walks you through the key steps to clean, maintain, and store your jacket or pants properly so they keep looking and working their best.
Golden rules (for all textile garments)
- Read the care label first; follow those instructions over anything below. If there are multiple layers (i.e. a detachable liners) consult the label in each layer. This set of instructions is leading over any other instructions given. If you are ever in doubt of how to properly maintain your gear, check the inner label.
- Remove all inner liners and armor before washing
- Close all zips, snaps and hook-and-loop fixtures to avoid damaging other fabrics on your garment
- Avoid the use of any (aggressive) solvents and fabric softener
- After caring, drip-dry your garments slowly at room temperature, away from direct sunlight or any heat sources
Cleaning (pre-wash)
- Remove all excess dirt with a soft brush or a barely damp microfiber cloth. Treat mesh fabrics carefully
- For heavier dirt and stains, use a very little amount of our REV'IT! Care - Textile Wash. Work up light foam; do not saturate
- Wipe away residue with a clean damp cloth
Washing
- Use a gentle cycle in your machine with a small amount of REV'IT! Care - Textile Wash
- Always follow the care label in the garment, also in the liner(s) if applicable since they can require a different procedure
Drying
- Air dry at room temperature
- Tumble dry possible for certain (GORE-TEX) styles, check and follow the care label for each layer
Conditioning
- For textile garments or garments with textile parts:
- To keep or restore the water repellent functionality (DWR) active, use our REV'IT! Care - Maintenance Textile Waterproofing Spray-on or REV'IT! Care - Maintenance Textile Waterproofing Wash-in (during the wash cycle)
- Apply a thin film on the textile material (NOT on any mesh/leather/protective parts!) and wipe off excess material
- Let the material air dry
- For any of our garments with a waterproof membrane (Hydratex or GORE-TEX)
- Respect the care and conditioning instructions as mentioned above. The waterproof membrane sits behind the outer shell material, and it is the outer shell that requires maintenance, not the membrane itself. The waterproof membrane can only function as expected with a properly cared for outer shell. Care for removable waterproof liners separately.
