How to care for your leather REV'IT! motorcycle garments

Leather motorcycle gear is chosen with intention. Riders trust it for its protection, value it for its durability, and appreciate the unmistakable character it brings to every ride. Whether you are focused on the track, moving through the city, or setting off on longer touring journeys, a leather jacket, pair of pants or suit offers a unique balance of performance, comfort, and timeless style. To keep that quality intact, proper care matters. Looking after leather helps preserve its strength, suppleness, fit, and refined appearance, so it continues to perform as it should. With the right attention, leather gear does not simply last longer, it continues to feel right, look exceptional, and remain ready for every mile ahead.

Golden rules (for all leather garments)

  • Read the care label first; follow those instructions over anything below. If there are multiple layers (i.e. a detachable liners) consult the label in each layer. This set of instructions is leading over any other instructions given. If you are ever in doubt of how to properly maintain your gear, check the inner label.
  • Remove all inner liners and armor before cleaning
  • Close all zips, snaps and hook-and-loop fixtures to avoid damaging other fabrics on your garment
  • Avoid the use of any (aggressive) solvents or alcohol-based sprays or products
  • After caring, dry your garment slowly at room temperature, away from direct sunlight or any heat sources

Cleaning

  • Remove all excess dirt with a soft brush or a barely damp microfiber cloth. Treat mesh and stretch fabrics carefully
  • For heavier dirt and stains, use a very little amount of our REV'IT! Care – Leather Cleaner. Work up light foam; do not saturate. This is not suitable for oily / pull-up leathers. Always make sure to test the product first on the inner side / not visible part of your garment to see how it reacts.
  • Wipe away residue with a clean damp cloth

Washing (if applicable) for non-leather layers

  • Use a gentle cycle in your machine with a small amount of REV'IT! Care - Textile Wash for the (if applicable) thermal and/or waterproof liner only! DO NOT WASH THE LEATHER SHELL!
  • Always follow the care label in the thermal and/or waterproof liner(s) if applicable since they can require a different procedure

Drying

  • Air dry at room temperature

 Conditioning

  • Apply a very thin film of our REV'IT! Care - Maintenance Leather Care Wax, working it in lightly with a microfiber cloth. Always make sure to test the product first on the inner side / not visible part of your garment to see how it reacts.
  • Wipe off/remove any excess product in a rounded motion, or warm up a cloth with body heat to soften the residue before conditioning. Over-conditioning can soften impact zones and attract dirt

Quick reference

Do

  • Read and respect the care label in every layer of your leather REV'IT! garment
  • Use care products from our REV'IT! Care maintenance product line
  • Air dry slowly
  • Condition the outer shell lightly
  • Always make sure to test any cleaning or care product first on the inner side / not visible part of your garment to see how it reacts.

Don’t

  • Machine wash, bleach, soften, or solvent-clean
  • Dry in direct sunlight or near a heat source
  • Over-treat (oils/waxes can hinder breathability)

After every ride, take a moment to inspect your leather jacket, pants or suit and remove any surface dirt or moisture with care. By treating the leather properly and following the care instructions for each component, you help preserve its suppleness, finish, and protective performance for many rides to come.
